Two important recent events

- The US have discovered their first case of mad cow disease. Ok, after unilateral US taxes on iron, unilateral US taxes on french cheese and goods, let's see a ban on american beef based on real reasons... Don't misunderstand me, I am not happy to see mad cow disease in the US. I am happy to see Bush's admin deal with another big problem and I hope it will be a good incentive for US farmers to stop giving hormones to cows, stop feeding them with products made from meat (cows are made to eat GRASS, not meat!).
- Jacques Chirac just said "I will do all I can do to make sure Alain Juppé is my successor" (source: Le Canard Enchaîné). Alain Juppé... Chirac's prime minister in 95. The guy was so bad that he said "I'll resign when there are 1 million people demonstrating in the streets". A few days later, two millions were in the streets... Alain Juppé is the worst choice of all for this country, and even his own party knows about it. The supreme quintescence of French administrative superiority. Almost hated by the population. Only Chirac supports him. No future...

I think America has banned meat from countries who had mad cow cases before. So I think it is only fair that the rest of the world does the same until the farmers and govt. officials get everything in order. It just makes sense that you wouldn't want 'dirty meat' in your country's markets. It should be interesting to see how Bush can handle this...I doubt he'll be able to say anything about a ban after his agressive protectivism policy.

FYI, it seems that the rest of world is more up in arms about this then the we (Americans) are right now. I guess we have are priorities straight.

Juppé ? Celui des grèves de 1995 ? Pas pire que Raffarin qui détruit (grace à un certain baron) les droits sociaux les uns après les autres :[

Et merde, c'est Noël, après tout
rgw > I think France import only a few meat from America(s) so we are not so impacted (and the US too) with a blocus on US meat.
well this one's going to be funny. certain administration retards in the states banned canadian beef after one case of bse was found on an isolated farm in canada (which by the way arguably has much better laws controlling beef than the usa). if they don't want to sound like hypocrites, they need to ban american beef too. oops...
