I just forgot that some people have to use a proxy. Thanks "Samps" from down-under for the reminder. This is fixed now, and preferences let you set up your connection settings.
There needs to be a way so that the proxy settings across all mozilla based apps are shared (with perhaps an optional override).
It's easy enough to remember to set proxy settings in a browser because that's always used for accessing the web, but with any of the other apps that may only need to access the web in special circumstances it's easy to forget.
Usually I don't write "me too" comments, but this time, it _really_ is the thing that came through my mind when reading this and I came to this place for telling exactly the same thing like Dave.
Is there a way for other GRE applications to access the browser prefs.js? Or to create one profile storing all prefs and data from all GRE applications? then it would be necessary to call them all-prefs.js, browser-prefs.js, mail-prefs.js etc... in all-prefs.js you would save info like the proxy settings.
