Nvu-0.60-aviary

I am glad to make available the very first builds of Nvu based on the Firefox 1.0 codebase. These builds are provided "as is", are test builds only, and should not be considered as stable at all. A few details :
- the linux builds appear unable to launch a browser, I'm investigating
- no Mac build for the moment, I need to work on hiddenWindow.xul first
- no idea why but the linux builds sometimes require to
xhost + - site manager's KDE icons are not in for the moment
- extensions and themes managers should be working ok, you can try to install venkman, the JavaScript debugger
- these builds are NOT ready for localization, please don't waste time on it
/* Enjoy! */

Daniel why are you building using aviary, when the aviary branch is being merged back into the trunk ?
Because the trunk has too many issues related to the editor core that I will have to fix.
1. Tools > Themes > Get new themes launched Mozilla for me
0.60 tried to launch Epiphany for me but it always crashed. Furthermore, File > Browse Page launches Mozilla as does Help > Nvu web site. The only noticeable thing is that the three actions started new mozilla windows!!
Any possibility of providing sources too?
Feature Request: Working offline -- i.e. do not download images from internet, but only from localhost. This will definitely help when re-editing a page.
Lastly, Merci Beaucoup.
I just downloaded and installed the nvu-aviary fedora tar.bz2 on Suse 9.2 and it works. It called up Firefox 1.0 for the browser to see the preview, and it brought up FireFox and took me to the N|VUs website, the faq page, and forums page. I haven't made any pages with it yet, but it seems to be working so far. Thanks for the work you are doing on this program, it is much appreciated.
Does that mean, nvu works with gtk1 now?
Help->About NVU->Credits is broken
Can you release also the sourcecode of this version?

I want it because when i want to launch ./nvu (0.60 and 0.60+) (it is in my home dir) i'm getting
*** nsExtensionManager::_disableObsoleteExtensions - failure, catching exception so finalize window can close
*** loading the extensions datasource
*** loading the extensions datasource
then i can wait an hour but nothing happens
wan i compile it myself it is working (with nvu 0.60)
Thanks for providing this test version. Some comments about it:
Running Nvu on Windows XP (SP1):
- I do not see the window's title on the taskbar (just the Nvu-icon and no text)
- when I input an http-address on the place where I should input an FTP-address (Publishing Address) and try to open the site from sitemanager there is no error message.
Nvu can perhaps get a connection to the http-address (which is a valid one), but should detect within reasonable time that this is not an FTP-site and it cannot login with the data as provided.
The only thing I get is an endless progressbar below in SiteManager and an hourglass-mousepointer. Fortunately it still lets me correct my mistake (click on Edit Sites) and after that I can just click again on the FTP-site (in SiteManager) and then it just loads.
I know I should input the correct address, but I guess a proper error message would help other users.
Some more comments: when I load an existing page in this Nvu the title is also placed in the title bar on the taskbar. So it looks like only with new pages (untitled) the title is somehow not set on the taskbar. Still minor, but just wanted to mention it.
When I load a page with a frameset it gets loaded fine, but I also get an Alert. It tells me that the page cannot be edited for an unknown reason. I would expect that Nvu tells me it cannot edit the page because it consists of frames and that I can only edit this page's source directly (or something like that depending on what Nvu is supposed to do with framesets).
Hi,
I tried amking some web pages using the newer version of N|VU 0.60-aviary in Suse 9.2. I used this version nvu-0.60-aviary-fedora2.tar.bz2 taken from the link you provided on the your website.
It is doing the strangest thing I've seen. When I go into code view, and highlight some code and text to copy, then paste it into the same document again or another document, then go back to wywiwyg mode, or even if I stay in source code mode, it duplicates the entire page if I save or don't save the page.
Hm. Well, JSLib appears to install correctly. This is more than I can say for my MathML editor extension (which is probably my fault).

Unfortunately, DOM Inspector doesn't come with Nvu by default. When I tried to find and install it, I was less than successful...
These problems probably are not your fault.
