Nvu ping stats 20050413

- it took six months for v0.50 to reach the 100,000 mark... v0.90 will do that in one month...
- there are still a lot of people downloading Nvu 0.50. Probably because of shareware/freeware repositories and localizations.
- total pings should reach 450,000 in just a few days. We estimate that a maximum of one user out of three pings us. So Nvu should reach the 1.5 million mark with forthcoming 1.0PR.
- the curves are immediately affected by the release of a new version and that's good.

Daniel, is the generation of your graphes automatic? I guess so but...
It would be great if you could have the 1.0 release publicised at the mozilla.org website, as well as other sites like spreadfirefox.com.
Don't take it for granted that it will happen, hope you have lined up all the main sources of your support, marketing and publicity.
It need to be handled just like a for-profit software release, maybe not that much.
Talking about graphes, I just came upon that one www.ranking.pl/chart/line... found from a mozillazine article (www.mozillazine.org/talkb... Nice example of what the web should look like.

Now I wait for the same graph with nvu and dreamveaver usages
Pity you don't have uninstall pings. Many of the 0.50 users have moved on to 0.81 and 0.90 versions creating another ping for every release.
The amount of recent pings for older versions is puzzling though. Maybe you can say "Check for newer versions of Nvu at nvu.com" in the "About Nvu" box and in one of the rotated tooltips you get on startup.
