- Ten days ago, I was discussing with Håkon Wium Lie and told him my opinion about Wi-Max: I think Wi-Max is a highly disruptive innovation in the world of mobile telephony because it will offer on one hand full-IP-based services from end to end, and on the other a drastically reduced cost of deployment. Given the range of a powerful Wi-Max hotspot, the roaming problem could be much easier to solve that in GSM, 3G, 4G worlds. So the last issue is the number of simultaneous connections. The (middle term) future is probably Wi-Max-based mobile phones. And just when I am far away from tech news, this report seems to show I am right in that assumption.
- I wonder if men become bald when they get older to have less sex-appeal to young women than young men. In other words, do they become bald because otherwise they would have more sex-appeal than younger men? (don't misunderstand me, I am not talking about myself here and I am not joking, it's just a geeky question about the human animal...)

I'm not sure about boldness, but I just learned yesterday that bellies work that way. That is, men get bellies when they grow older, and even faster if they have kids. And I don't think this is a frustration level thing ;-).
Great,
then you can turn any mobile phones into an IP-phone and shake the mobile business model as the the PSTN was.
Your mobile operator mays looove that
lprevosto : I work for one of the biggest telecom manufacturers (one that is working together with Intel for a long time). That's exactly where mosft of the Telco's want to go. Once WiMAX improves its power consumption (they never mention that), it will appear in your mobile phone. The roaming aspect should be a lot better than Wifi-phones, which only work if you stand still.
PS: but don't ever think that they'll allow you to call for free. They'll still find a way to charge you, one way or another.
Daniel,
I was a biochemist in a former life/career. Baldness is directly linked to one of the male hormones (might be testosterone but I forget). That is, the more of it you have, the quicker and younger you go bald. Less you have, longer you keep your hair. There's a few other lesser things associated with it - I think prostrate problems are too (which isn't a "lesser thing" when you have prostrate problems...).
EZ
jhermans : never doubted about it
but i wonder if WimAX would not be a way for FAIs and newcomers to break into the mobile market without having paid for 1G and 3G licences and deployment (especially 3G which was expensive and is still looking for its customer).
It also reminds me that telcos planned to use 3G to sell local internet access (for laptops)... but unfortunately wifi broke in.
