I love Firefox and I love Skype, but what purpose would this extension serve?
If it's just "Skype, or some functional subset thereof, running inside a Firefox toolbar/sidebar/statusbar"... I am not sure that is useful.
Having said that, Daniel Glazman has done WONDERFUL work on Nvu, for which I thank him very much and I'm sure he's thought of some cool ideas for Skypefox.
See also <cockatoo.mozdev.org/> for a SIP extension for Thunderbird that is currently been developped. In my opinion, this behaviour is better suited for Thunderbird, than Firefox.
I prefer a SIP extentsion to TB or FF like the cockatoo project. I have recently gotten into VoIP and believe SIP is the way.
To me Skype's proprietary attempt on VoIP create's a limited range to how such tech can be used. I liken it to what if only Hotmail users can only Email Hotmail users. Mike Robinson has taken a step into the right direction with the Gizmo Project which uses SIP, but also uses a proprietary codec. Gizmo will let you call anyone with a SIP address regardless of provider.
Unfortunately Skype offers better VOIP quality than any SIP-based phone I have seen. For me, the quality of SIP-based phones is so bad that I can not use them. Skype on the other hand works just fine.
In case translators may be interested, I propose a version of Skyfox with locales : goofy37.perso.cegetel.net...
Send your locales to Mr Glazman, of course, and spread the extension !

yesssss !!!!
It'd be fun.
mmmmm... :>
\o/ yeahh !!!
Me too!
is this a question or an announcement?

btw: skype-integration would be great
I'd rather integrate with Tbird, personally, since then I could take advantage of my address book contacts etc which is a much more useful case.
Will this extension be - like Skype - cross platform (Windows/Linux/Mac)?
Nice, but isn't skype going to be doing this officially already.

I think SIP is the best choice.
Riguardo Nvu ho messo on-line un articolo su wikipedia:

I don't know about Skype intergration, but I would like to see. . stats on Nvu 1.0 downloads.
Oh, BTW. I guess I'm just not a Skype fan. . I have dial-up, lol. But . . It kinda sounds stupid.
Much more desirable I think is a cross-platform SIP client (Including ENUM lookup) extension to both Firefox and Thunderbird.

J'allais le dire et je constate que je ne suis pas le seul : SIP/Gizmo ?… Comme il te plaira…
MMh, Jybe (www.jybe.com/) extension supports Skype too now
