CaScadeS, the CSS editor in Nvu

Apparently, some think "Nvu’s CSS editor can only be called a disaster" and "Abomination"... Wow
Impressive
Fortunately, some other say "A free extension for Mozilla and Netscape, this little tool suddenly becomes the standard by which all other editors will be judged".

il faut savoir accepter la critique même celle qui n'est pas objective.
I must admit, I don't use the CSS editor of NVU neither. I handcode them. But I can't say that I *tried* to use it, it's just that I'm used to doing it that way.
What proprietary CSS properties is the blog talking about?
Well, I'd say that the main problem with CaScadeS in Nvu is that it can't select the rule that is applied to the current element... I understand this is a Gecko limitation (I don't even know if DW can do this), I use Amaya when I have to debug a stylesheet - as you recommanded some time ago
Another drawback is that all comments are removed from a CSS file. I can understand this is another Gecko limitation... but there might be a workaround for this (e.g. define /*comments*/ as a style rule?)
Apart from that, I find CaScadeS really handy, and quite easy to use. Neither Nvu nor CaScadeS are text editors, some users may be disapointed about the way they work.
"De gustibus et coloribus non disputandum"
Well. I think what we should remember of the 'less positive' review is the problems mentioned. It is an opportunity to improve the product. For starters, the mentioned bugs should be fixed. If indeed menus grey out for no reason (or the wrong reason), a user might start feeling uncomfortable. I agree strongly with the loss of the tabs when being in source mode, and the weird breaks in it.
Daniel, do you have already any time schedule for :
- bug fix releases
- new functionality
I remember you said you first need to merge the code back to Mozilla.
kind regards,
Lieven
