Extension slot for JVC GZ-MC500 ?!?

If you often read this blog, you know my video camera is a JVC and stores everything on a 4 Gigabytes microdrive instead of using DV tapes. I love it. It has a few minor issues like a weak stabilizer but it's a very nice and incredible small video camera. I just discovered an extension slot with a 30 pin connector at the back of the camera !

This is totally undocumented and there is no JVC accessory using it, at least in stores. Has anyone some doc - or some thoughts - about this connector ? I'd love to try accessories like an external hard drive, a more powerful flash or an external battery pack !

Seems most electronic devices have something to that effect, but they are rarely used. Gaming consoles are famous for this. Even the mac mini had pinning for an alleged iPod doc built in on the top.
My guess would be 95% nothing has nor will exist. It's simply "in case" they can use that logic board in another product as a component.
While I really hope you do find info and docs on it, and it's actually useful, I hate to say that normall we EE engineers tack on slots like that for debugging.
Usually they are only on prototype, but if you have a product out there that you service, you do yourself a very good service by leaving debugging ports on there to save your time doing repairs.
Anyhow, worst case that is what it is, but I hope I'm wrong.
It could be one of these connectors for diagnostic and flashing the firmware, I suppose. You probably have one of these next to the battery connector inside your Digital Rebel / EOS 300D.
salut Daniel,
