AjaxWrite

AjaxWrite, a new and very promising online Word Processor, xul-based, for Firefox. It uses mozilla editor, through midas at this time. Worth looking at it, although it's still young. Our mozillian friend Hisham El-Emam (hish on IRC) and Michael Robertson are behind. Read what says MR about it.
According to MR, they "will launch a new sophisticated program every week on Wednesday at 12:00 PST on ajaxlaunch.com". And apparently, they have around TEN cool apps like AjaxWrite waiting on their shelves !!! Wow !!!!

Hmm, but I really dont understand why it "prefers" closed MS Word DOC format ... What about OpenDocument ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ope... ), or MS Word XML based formats ?
Whenever I try to (up-)load a document, Firefox freezes (without CPU usage). I'd comment in the official forum, but I'm too lazy to register.
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a1) Gecko/20060320 Firefox/1.6a1 ID:2006032004
Can't launch this web2.0 app since I changed my Firefox 'useragent' field !
Was it the best way to check the capabilities of my browser ?
FWIW, I find the premise ("The look, feel, and functionality of Microsoft Word, in a completely web-based AJAX platform.") deeply flawed. I think migrating productivity applications to the web using Ajax (and maybe XUL) makes sense, but not doing so blindly. Developers should use the apportunity to rethink the possibilities of productivity applications a bit. A good start would be to get rid of presentational formatting and orient the UI around styles.
I am not discussing MR's marketing

That's a good reason!
What's XUL?
