I have just booked Michel's next birthday present : four days in Rome. With the rest of the family of course. Michel is fond of everything related to Rome and the Gauls, and I think he's going to be very happy

Your son is very lucky... At his age, I would have loved that. I was very fond of Roma, Pompei... Of course I would have loved to visit Greece or Egypt for the same reasons! Hope you will have a nice trip, see many wonders and take many pictures

If you want to give him an even more memorable birthday you should take him to Ostia Antica (www.ostiaantica.net). In Rome itself you need a really good imagination to get an idea of how ancient Rome was like but in Ostia you are actually walking around in a complete city.
Another tip: buy the Roma Pass (www.romapass.it/index_en.... Free entrance/reduction for Colosseum, Palatine hill (+ no queuing!), Ostia Antica, several musea, ... Use of public transport is also included in the pass.
My girlfriend and I had a fantastic holiday in Rome this summer. Wonderful city.
