That's interesting. I've been working on one rather well known browser for more than a decade and I can't recall even a minute of time wasted on killing off longdesc. Maybe he's talking about Opera?
@Asa: or maybe you're not following all html5 discussions and bugs?
That's the same fallacy as saying "If they spent the time trying to get the browser pretty actually fixing the memory bugs, they would be fixed years ago".
Not everyone is able or willing to do everything, and making more time for a WG member doesn't mean developing new features will be faster or easier.
Time =/= people
